Cornell Notes- Required for all courses

Welcome to the Rice Lake Area School District’s Connections Program. The Connections Program is for home-based learners to receive their education through the Rice Lake Area School District in a collaboration between the school district and RLASD families. Elementary and middle school students receive promotion to the next grade level, and high school students can earn credits through Rice Lake Area School District. Upon completion of all graduation requirements, students will receive a Rice Lake Area School District graduation diploma. Our program follows the RLASD school calendar. Placement into the Connections Program is determined by the principal and the Connections Program Director. Individual Education Teams (IEP Teams) must convene in order to determine if Connections is a placement option for a special education student to receive a free and appropriate public education. If a parent is wanting his or her child to join the Connections Program and the child is not residing in the Rice Lake Area School District, the student would need to go through the steps necessary to be considered for open enrollment to the Rice Lake Area School District. A student assistance team would determine whether the Connections Program would be the best placement for the student.

The Connections Program allows for flexible, blended learning options for students. With this delivery model, students are encouraged to take courses at their home school, if desired, in addition to learning from home, which may include online and traditional textbook-based learning. Connections students are also encouraged to participate in clubs, sports, and school events. Handbooks are available online or from the office. Please note that students enrolled in on-campus courses may only drop a course within the first two days of each term. After two days, students are not be allowed to change courses. Schedule changes must be approved by the local education guide and the principal.

Our goal is to create a rigorous and challenging academic experience for students to achieve their personal best. We use the elementary and middle school curricula when possible, so an easy transition back to school is an option. Please let us know at the start of the year if your child may be returning to school this year, so we can contact teachers to align chapters and course content.
